Qimonda is the company thaw was formed when Infineon choose to let go of its memory circuit manufacturing. We’ve earlier reported about how Qimonda chose not to venture for GDDR4 and how Intel has been having discussions with memory manufacturers about making GDDR5 for its coming GPU. EETimes now reports that Qimonda will go directly to GDDR5 and is hoping to be the first and largest company to cover the needs of the high-performance segment of graphics cards, but also the growing need from other directions, for example video game consoles. These have started using PC components more and more lately and they will most likely be using ever more in the future.
