Qimonda AG has a broad assortment of memory chips and has now announced the shipment of the first test samples of its 512Mb XDR memory circuits. The chips have been developed through a license agreement with Rambus and are geared toward graphical applications where performance and maximal bandwidth is the top priority, both computers and home electronics.
“The close collaboration between our engineering teams enables a stable XDR DRAM supply base as an increasing number of consumer and digital entertainment applications require higher performance memory solutions.”
Qimonda specifically mentions the video game market, digital TV devices and projectors. When and which units that will use Qimonda’s XDR Ram chips remains to be seen.
