Picturse of what is suppose to be ATi’s coming R520 graphic card has been circulating the web. Now it seems even more sites have been able to acquire ATi’s next geenraion of graphic circuit since they have at TechPowerUp! released pictures of what it claims to be R520 XT, the flagshipof the R520-series. The card has a dual-slot cooler, and will need a spare PCI-slot. It simply seems the heat dissipation with R520 XT is too much for a single slot cooler, which actually 7800 GTX from nVidia can suffice with. There will be models with lower clocks of R520, R520 XL and R520 LE, which uses smaller coolers. R520 will be launched as PCI Express and nothing else from what it seems. At the same time TechPowerUp! reveals that R520 will use an internal bus at 512-bit. The bus for the memory will still be 256-bit though so whether we will gain anything from this remains to see. The amount of memory R520 XT will use is “of course” massive 512MB which will most likely push the price up quite a bit. According to TechPowerUp!’s source the name will be either Radeon X1800 or Radeon X900, but he didn’t want to say which one. Specifications for the various R520-models and more pictures can be found at TechPowerUp!
