R600 is expected to become AMD/ATI’s reply to NVIDIA and its G80 architecture, by the information we’ve received about R600 it will be a really powerful graphics circuit and something for NVIDIA to fear. Now it seems there will not be a need for any new production of circuits which earlier rumors have stated, but it may still be delayed. This because AMD will not allow a launch until the card can be sold in large volumes. In short, no more paper launches but when R600 arrives it will also be available in quantities in stores. By the looks of it, the launch date is far from solid though, somewhere in the first quarter and hopefully the end of February. A launch at CeBIT in March is starting to sound quite probable.
