Despite contradictory reports we’re almost starting to believe that AMD will launch a Radeon HD 2900 XT 1GB in the retail channel. Denny, a.k.a. guess2098, have been posting benchmarks for some time now and along with a high-res photo. The picture was made available at the forum Coolaler.com. You can clearly see the 16 GDDR4 memory chips specified at 0.9ns. This means that the memory circuits can do more than 2,2Ghz, even though the stock frequency is just 2GHz.
Unfortunately there’s no new information on the (pending?) launch, but if the 1GB card reaches retail stores it should be relatively soon. The picture and some benchmarks can be found at Coolaler.com.
