AMD will launch a model of Radeon HD 2900XT with 1GB, but it’s only for system builders like Dell, HP and other huge OEM companies. Rumors have been going around though, that there will be a 1GB card for the retail market as well, even though we’re pretty certain that AMD will wait to launch a new card until the new 65nm circuit is ready. According to TweakTown, there will be a 1GB version of Radeon HD 2900XT next month already. The card will use GDDR4 memory and will be clocked considerably higher than today’s 1650MHz GDDR3 memory.
We recommend you to not get your hopes up too much, as AMD will most likely wait and shrink its R600 circuit to 65nm rather than just launch a new Radeon HD 2900 XT with faster memory. There will be a Radeon HD 2900 XT, not just for the retail channel if we take a look in our crystal ball, but then again, it’s one foggy crystal ball.
