After AMD launched its Radeon HD 5970 graphics card with dual Cypress GPUs it can brag about having the fastest graphics card on the market, all categories. Since the launch there have been rumors and talks of another dual-GPU card form AMD. The name was rumored to become Radeon HD 5950 and now new reports suggests a launch in Q1 2010.
Nothing is confirmed but according to a story at German Hardware infos there have are indications for the specifications of the card.
AMD is said to use the crippled Radeon HD 5850 Cypress GPU with 1440 stream processors operating somewhere around 650MHz to 675MHz. The memory clock frequency is said to be between 3600MHz and 4000MHz.
The card is more or less a dual version of Radeon HD 5850 and will ship as another weapon against NVIDIA’s Fermi architecture, also launching in Q1. As with all rumors, consider it with a pinch of salt.
