While Intel and AMD are taking it slow with bringing integrated support for USB 3.0 others are rushing to get their storage accessories out as soon as possible. Raidsonic has now launched new products under the Icy Box brand and they are all USB 3.0 compatible. The PCI Express controller card, IB-AC604, sports dual USB 3.0 ports and can do transfer rates up to 5Gb/s thanks to the PCI Express 2.0 standard.
To add to this it has also presented two new external harddrive enclosures, ICY BOX IB-250StU3-B for 2.5″ drives and ICY BOX IB-318StU3-B for 3.5″ drives. All products are of course backward compatible with USB 2.0, but the USB 3.0 is of course the most interesting bit.
Both storage units are made from aluminum and use passive cooling for silent operation.
