Razer is not holding back when describing the just launched gaming keyboard DeathStalker Ultimate. With an integrated LCD panel – and touchad – and the custom Switchblade interface, Razer has decided to call the latest creation for the world’s smartest keyboard.
Razer DeathStalker Ultimate is a sibling to the Razer-made Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming keyboard, but we also find traces of Razer’s renowned gaming computer – Razer Blade. The similarities include a full-size keyboard with chiclet keys that also support anti-ghosting technology with up to ten simultaneous key presses. The backlighting for the keys and the five extra makro buttons comes in three colors.
The big news and what Razer is extra proud of is the Switchblade UI. The keyboard has skipped the classic numpad and replaced it with a 4,05″ LCD that will not only show information in games but also from Windows applications. The screen can also power its own widgets for e.g. facebook, twitter or Youtube, or through a simple press of a button transform into a touch screen for those who wants e.g. gesture control.
“With the Switchblade UI on the Razer DeathStalker Ultimate, we wanted to offer gamers an enriching and intuitive gaming experience built for total game control,” – Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, VP of Razer USA.
Above the LCD sits ten fully programmable LED keys with 80 Hz update frequency that can show different icons depending on what function you assign to them. This can be controlled through the bundled software Razer Synapse 2.0, which usede cloud sotrage for your keyboard profiles, which means you will never have to worry about losing your personal settings.
As expected, Razer has put a high price on this advanced keyboard. DeathStalker Ultimate will cost $249.99 when avaialble in stores later this Fall. Those who can do without LCD and LED keys can look for the sibling Razer Deathstalker at $79.99.
