We have been planning a couple of things for the forum users, both here and the Swedish section. We hope to introduce a couple of things for your entertainment or in this case benefit of others. One of the first things we would like to do is bring back is our old Folding@Home team. This announcement comes a bit early, and the reason is simply because Folding@Home is not about glory, honor or personal gain but helping others. Whether you choose to fold for us or anyone else is completely up to you. All we ask is that you start folding and contribute to the Folding@Home project.
There are many ways to contribute today. The easiest is to download the CPU client that runs in your system tray and makes use of idle processing power. CPU clients are available for both Windows, Mac and Linux.
If you have a PlayStation 3 you can download a client directly in the operating system (XMB) under Network and choosing icon at the bottom. It will either show Folding@Home or Life with PlayStation. The latter includes a Folding@Home client.
If you have a graphics card from NVIDIA that supports CUDA, or a graphics card from AMD of the Radeon 2000 series or newer, you can download a GPU client that will get a lot more work done. There is also an SMP client for the truly advanced systems.
You configure your client by right-clicking the system tray icon and click Configure. Here you enter your user name, if you don’t already have one make sure to select that is unique and not already taken, and in the field for team number you enter 122806 to fold for NordicHardware.
Under the advanced tab you can set how much of the CPU you want the client to use and how much priority it should have. It would be wise to set it to a percentage that does not cause your fans to spin up but still get some work done.
