Texas-based company EEStor has announced that it has taken great steps toward what may very well turn the whole battery industry upside-down. It is currently working on a battery-ultracapacitor system which is based on barium titanate (a form of barium-titanium-oxide, BaTiO3), which is a pretty common semiconductor. This system will be a great improvement of today’s lithium-ion batteries in practically every way imaginable. Primarily EEStor is working on a system for electric cards, but if we keep our fingers crossed the technology will find its way into laptops and then we can perhaps forget about these poor battery times of a few measly hours.
