RIAA has made a name through its hunting of music pirates. At a number of occasions they’ve made some serious mistakes in court and many times the lawsuits have been so unbelievable that only the RIAA could see the case. RIAA has now stepped on a real land mine when the judge made Capital Records pay for Debbie Foster’s legal fees, which apparently was a whopping $50,000. This is the first time RIAA lost a case and was forced to pay the defendant’s fees and this could become a future example, which could perhaps force RIAA to be a bit more careful.
In an unrelated statement RIAA has claimed that CDs should cost considerably more. In reality they should be almost twice as expensive and that the consumers should be happy that CDs are so very cheap today. Another proof that RIAA lacks connections to the reality.
