Rock Direct is a British computer builder that has been focusing a lot on portable computers and its assortament contains anything from cheaper budget-models to really expensive machines with support for NVIDIA’s SLI technology. Rock has now launched another model and Regasus 330, which is the name of the system, is a pretty slim computer with a lot of power. The computer has a 13.3″ LCD display powered by Intel’s integrated graphics circuit, but what stands out is the processor. Not just the fact that it is Intel’s flagship Core Duo T2600 in such a slim format, weighing only 2kg (4.4 lbs.), but also that the processor can be overclocked. Not only can be, it is automatically overclocked when you plug it into the power socket.
It’s a pretty modest overclock at 5% (about 100MHz) but it’s the concept that makes us react. Overclocking a laptop overall is almost a tabu, not to speak about automatic overclocking from factory which therefore makes this an even more interesting development. What this mean to future laptops we will leave to the future, but Rock Direkt has really opened up for overclocking-friendly laptops.
