In about one and a half month, mid-November-ish, ATI will unleash the graphics circuit RV670. This chip is made using TSMC’s 55 nm manufacturing process and will have a much lower power consumption than the current high-end card from ATI. There will be two different cards based on the RV670 core, RV670 XT and RV670 Pro, and they will have GPU frequencies of 825 MHz and 750 MHz respectively. Where RV670 XT will have 1.2 GHz GDDR4 memory, while RV670 Pro has to settle for 900 MHz GDDR3 memory. This will result in a total TDP of 132 W for the RV670 XT and 104 W for the RV670 Pro. This is pretty much a reduction by 50 % of the 240 W the R600 produces.
