We earlier reported about the bits of the specifications of RV790 has started to leak. As suspected it will not be the first 40nm circuit to reach the market, but RV740 will be. Those of you who are familiar with AMD’s model branding understands that this chip is a mid-range solution, and it looks like it will be sold as Radeon HD 4730 and Radeon HD 4750. Catalyst 9.1 namely contains information about these chips. RV740 has been suggested to sport 640 stream processors and a 128-bit memory interface and GDDR5 memory. We hope to hear more about big brother RV790 soon.
On a sidenote, it looks like RV790 will be named Radeon HD 4900 series in the conventional manner with Radeon HD 4950, Radeon HD 4970 and the X2 suffix for the dual-GPU combo. We are aware of the Club3D Radeon HD 5870 X2 that was sighted in a German store a while back, but that card is still three quarters away last we heard.
