The first notebooks sporting NVIDIA’s new mobile GTX graphics circuits has just arrived. The first maker to get one out in the open is Sager who has announced models with both NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 280M and 260M GPUs. Despite the name, they have little in common with NVIDIA’s latest GT200 archictrure but based on the older G92 architecture, but shrunk to 55nm.
No matter the architectural relation the chips are still some of the fastest on the market and Sager have managed to fit them into two performance machines. Sager NP5797 is a notebook with a 17″ display and a Core 2 Extreme processor that fits perfectly with GeForce GTX 280M.
The price of Sager NP5797 start at $1,799 but then you only get a Core 2 Duo P8600 processor and 2GB RAM.
For those who are hunting for GeForce GTX 260M, Sager has installed this GPU in a 15″ model called NP8662 where prices start at $1,499.
