Samsung decided to steal some of the lime-light at Macworld by announcing two new LCD monitors with some interesting features. Samsung 2493HM and 2693HM measures 24″ and 26″ respectively, and use the standard resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. But the thing that’s not standard is the contrast ratio of Samsung’s new 24″ monitor. The specifications tells us that Samsung 2493HM sports a 10 000:1 contrast ratio, ten times that of other 24″ monitors. Even though it is a dynamic contrast ratio it’s still an impressive figure. The larger 26″ model has to settle for 3000:1, which is still impressive.
The connections include HDMI, DVI and VGA, which should be enough for most. Both monitors have a response time of 5ms and is actually available immediately. Samsung 2493HM costs $599 USD and Samsung 2693HM $699 USD.
