Samsung has announced its newest SSD that will take full advantage of SATA 6.0 Gb/s and has a new controller. Besides that it can use the latest NAND memories at  2x nm and just like the precursor the main buyer is in the OEM channel.

Samsung PM810/SSD 470 was the first real competitive SSD. While it did not break any performance records, like OCZ and Corsair, it was marketed with realiability in mind. It did well since its SSDs appeared at many system builders, and the latest version of MacBook Air uses a tailored PM810.

The new PM830 is an evolution of Samsung PM810 with two major changes, which are support for SATA 6.0 Gb/s and 20nm grade NAND memory. Thanks to the new SATA standard the SSD will bring performance around 500/350 MB/s sequential read and write performance. The support for the new NAND memories will not bring any major changes to performance, but in the long run enable them to lower prices with higher capacity chips.

PM830 will be shipping to OEMs in sizes of 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB and a unit for retail will be prepared up ahead.
