Samsung has announced two new Plasma TVs which they call the world’s first 3D PDP TVs. Together with game distributor Electronic Arts, Samsung has developed one 42″ and one 50″ model, which both have been optimized for 3D rendering and games. Samsung says that EA will sell games with 3D glasses for optimal gaming experience. Both models sport full HD (1080p), USB2.0 ports and HDMI 1.3 compliance. Although, the most astonishing feature of the TVs is the contrast ratio. According to Samsung’s press release, the new 3D PDP models sports a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
Whether this is just synthetic or something or actual value remains to be seen, but you can’t deny that Samsung has something really interesting coming. It would be nice to see some more indepth information on the 3D optimization.
