Samsung BD-1000 will according to the site i4u be the first commercial Blu-ray player that will arrive on the American market. The player will arrive early this Spring and Samsung announces that the player will be the first, which in turn means that PlayStation 3 will not see the light of day in America until late Spring at best. Samsung BD-1000 will cost about 1000 USD and uses HDMI to output its video and sound signals. The player is backwards compatible with most DVD formats and the biggest catch seems to be the price, about twice as much as Toshiba’s first HD DVD player, HD-A1. Blu-ray will without a doubt arrive this Spring and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced about 20 Blu-ray movies that will arive during March, among others XXX and Robocop. We are excited to see what Blu-ray and HD DVD plans for the future, but as of today it seems we will just have to wait until Spring to see a Blu-ray player. Source: i4u
