Samsung has revealed the sequel to its 16GB SSD (Solid State Disk) at CeBIT, a drive with twice the capacity and this drive can of course(?) be found inside a laptop. As always we are very happy to see that more advances are made and especailly here as Samsung’s disk is clearly more within our grasp than the 100-160GB drives you read about. The price of a 32GB SSD is still far too high for any mortal and Samsung doesn’t really have any other buyer’s in mind than the national defences, and similar companies. Just the cost of the memory with such a drive would be $960 and then we still have to account for the other costs with making such a drive. It’s still nice to see that we are getting closer and closer to a consumer model. It’s almost like we can see a SSD at the horizon, almost.
