Samsung manufactures 8 Gigabit NAND Flash memory at 60nm

Samsung has now announced that it has started mass producing its 8 Gigabit NAND Flash memory chip with its 60nm manufacturing process. The new chips have considerably higher storage capacity and is at the same time considerably cheaper seen to the capacity. The mass production of Samsung’s 8Gb NAND memory chips makes it possible for Samsung to offer an 8GB (Gigabyte) solution using two vertically stacked rows with four vertically stacked 8 Gb circuits each. This memory chips can be used by mobile phones, MP3 players and other portabel units. The 8GB chip is expected to appear in products during the third quarter of 2006, maybe Apple’s coming 8GB iPod Nano?
