Samsung is one of the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers and at the same time one of the leading LCD panel manufacturers. It has now presented a product that combines these two markets; a 2,1″ qVGA TFT-LCD with Adaptive Brightness Control (ABC). ABC is a ultra-thin matrix hidden inside of the panel that makes it possible for the panel to automatically adjust the brightness to the ambient light, without the need for extra circuits and external sensors; instead its the regular control chip that adjust this through signals from the panel. At the same time Samsung has built in a temperature control in the control chip to ensure that the panel works at all times. The monitor will go into production during the second half of this year and we will hopefully see phones using the new panel this year.
