Display Week is under way, an event where companies can show off the very latest in display technology. One of Samsung’s contributions to this year’s event comes in the form of a 13.3″ notebook panel with 3200 x 1800 pixels resolution.

In a press release the Korean electronics giant shares some of the products and technologies that will be shown during the week. There will be a lot of 4K and UHD panels of various sizes for TVs, but even more interesting is the laptop and tablet geared panel that is also mentioned.

The panel measures 13.3″ and sports 3200 x 1800 pixels resolution, a.k.a. WQXGA+, for a density of 276 pixels per inch. For comparison Chromebook Pixel with its 2560 x 1700 pixels at 12.85″ has 239 ppi and Macbook Pro with 2560 x 1600 at 13.3″ (227 ppi), or 2880 x 1800 at 15.4″  (220 ppi). Samsung also promises that the panel will be very efficient, near 30% more energy efficient than current panels, much thanks to better diodes for the backlighting.

There were no pictures of the panel or any prototypes using it, but the panel should be able to attract a fair share of media attention during the event. So, pictures should not be far away.
