Small preview imageSamsung revealed last week a couple of new displays at IMID 2005(International Meeting on Information Display) and there were some real goody googies. Among others the world’s largest LCD-monitor that measured 82″ and used a 7:th generation panel and a responce time at 8ms. Samsung displayed yet another monitor that completely obliviates the LCD-technology when it comes to the update frequency, namely the world’s largest (manufactured from the one and same substance) OLED-display at 40″. We have actually reported on this OLED-panel earlier and the specifications matched the earlier statement, 1280×800 resolution, 5000:1 contrast ratio and a brightness at 600 nits.

This OLED-panel makes it possible to create large monitors only 3cm thick, which is even thinner than what the LCD-technology allows. So far OLED hasn’t become a consumer technology on the TV-market but we hope that this will change soon as larger OLED-displays probably will arrive soon.
