Samsung SyncMaster 850 is one of the latest monitor series and Samsung has put its faith in the fresh PLS technology that promises better performance over the popular IPS panels. Samsung has started shipping its first wo models – S24A850DW and S27A850D.
Samsung S27A850D is the top model of the 850 series and with a diagonal sceen size of 27 inches there is plenty of space. Even better is the resolution at 2560 x 1440 pixels in the now standard 16:9 format. The Plane to Line Switching (PLS) panel has impressive viewing angles at 178°/178° and sports LED-based backlighting.
Little brother Samsung S24A850DW also has a PLS panel but with 24 inches the resolution is set to 1920 x 1080 pixels, but with the same good viewing angles and LED backlighting.
Other specfications for both monitors is 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time (GtG) and 300 cd/m² brightness. The video inputs include dual DVI connectors (DVI + D-sub on the 24″ model) and a DisplayPort connection. They also support Picture-in-Picture, enabling them to show images from two different sources.

Samsung has also installed a 3-port USB 3.0 hub and foot that can alter height, angle and perpsective, and a carry handle. The monitors also have integrated PIR sensor that automatically changes power saving mode depending on the activity and an Eco light sensor for chaning the brightness dynamically based on the ambient light.
