Samsung has once again kept its position as the world’s largest supplier of DRAM memory circuits and during the second quarter of 2006 it had 26.4% of the DRAM market, followed by Qimonda with 15.7%. Where the American companies are well represented on the memory module market the chip market is quite different and it is only Micron on fourth place that is among the top ten largest DRAM manufacturers. South Korea brings first and third place, Samsung and Hynix. And it is also South Korea with 41.9% of all shipped DRAM circuits that dominates. Taiwan is next with 17.9% of all shipped circuits.

“DRAM market revenues increased by 14.5% sequentially in the second quarter with the fastest growing DRAM companies in the industry being Hynix, Elpida, ProMOS and Winbond.”
