Samsung continues to present new monitors and TVs, and during the SID 2007 (Society of Display) convention it had several new products on display. One of the main ingredients was LED backlighting as Samsung presented a new 40″ LCD TV with LED backlighting that delivered a monstrous contrast ratio at 10,000:1. About five times as high as a TV with CCFL backlighting. It also revealed a 24″ LCD monitor using LED backlighting, which is most likely designed for Windows Vista with its widescreen format, and according to Samsung, it will work perfect with Vista sidebar.
LED backlighting is finally starting to get a foot in on the display market and we’re eager to see how long it will take for it to become a commodity, and how it performance compared to CCFL.
