Sapphire HD 5570 XtendTV is a card different from most other. The relatively anonymous HD 5570 is in fact a very interesting choice for HTPC systems and as if that wasn’t enough Sapphire has added a digital TV tuner to the card. The bundled software than allows you to stream to other computers.
Sapphire HD 5570 XtendTV may look like just any graphics card, but the biggest difference compared to other HD 5570-kort is that the expansion panel has an antenna connector that makes it possible to catch digital TV broadcasts on your computer. The TV receiver comes from Mirics and is called FlexiTV.
The receiver suports DVB-T and can catch all open TV broadcasts over the digial ground broadcasting system and then play them back on the computer the card is installed in, or stream it on to another over the network.
Through the FlexiStream software Sapphire XtendTV makes use of the power available in the Redwood circuit and its 400 stream processors to compress the TV broadcasts and then stream them over the Internet to a notebook or any other unit.
With its UVD3 media processor Sapphire HD 5570 XtendTV also supports playback of High Definition video formats and can stream High Definition audio formats through the HDMI 1.3a output. The card also has DVI and mini-DisplayPort outputs, and 1GB GDDR5 memory. The cooler is active, but small and doesn’t need an extra port.
