Most component and PC builders have been trying to go green. Lower power consumption and more environmental materials are not just a way to look better but also to reduce costs and simply follow the stricter laws and guidelines. Sapphire is one of them has now decided to switch the boxes it uses for its graphics cards. The often complex boxes has now been replaced by recycled paper mass, much like the egg cartons.
Sapphire says that the simpler boxes are both more environmental to make and the small size reduce freight costs and pollution. Sapphire will replace all of its graphics card boxes, even for heavier and more advanced cards where it today to uses plastic or foam for shipping.
It’s always nice to hear about companies caring for the environment, and complicated and unnecessarily large product packages are just way too common. Hopefully Sapphire’s initiative will rub off on the competition.
