We are waiting eagerly for AMD’s and NVIDIA’s next generation graphics cards, but until then partners will be releasing custom cards based on the current generation. This time it is Sapphire that has released the highest overclocked HD 6950 so far, with dual BIOS circuits.

The AMD exclusive partner Sapphire has introduced a new graphics card, namely the HD 6950 Toxic. The graphics card sports 2GB GDDR5 and 880 MHz / 5200 MHz on the / GDDR5 memory, which makes it the highest clocked HD 6950 from factory.

The card has a custom blue circuit board and cooling from Sapphire with Vapor Chamber technology that uses a single fan. It has also choosen to include dual BIOS chips, which will make it a lot safer to play around with the settings. According to Sapphire this will also enable unlocking of the card, into HD 6970 (failure is not covered by the warranty and no guarantee for success). The card has one 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI-E connector for power, unlike the reference that has two 6-pin connectors.
