Seagate promised us back in January that within 6 months it will present a 1TB harddrive and now it seems that the promised harddrive will arrive next month. According to ChileHardware, Seagate will present the 7200.11 series next month and with it a new 1TB harddrive, which thanks to the perpendicular recording technology only only needs 4 platters. The harddrive will sport 16MB cache, NCQ (Native Command Queueing), 8 read/write heads and of course SATAII. We’ve seen how Hitachi’s 1TB HDD has been proven to offer a lot more than just a lot of storage but also some very impressive performance, which has certainly put a lot of pressure on Seagate.
