Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 was announced not too long ago and since it was the first consumer harddrive that actually use the renowned perpendicular recording technology it caused quite a stir. BigBruin has now published one of the first reviews of the biggest of these new disks and it turns out that the specifications, that look impressive, actually speak some truth. 7200.10 more or less humiliate its older sibling in some tests, while others are won with a smaller margin, however there is no doubt who’s the king of the hill. Seagate has managed to make 7200.10 even better than 7200.9 and it is going to be interesting to see what the competition has to offer.
“Seagate really does have the Steve Austin of hard drives on their hands with the Barracuda 7200.10, as it really is better, stronger, faster. Better in terms of the lower noise, and lower heat production provided in part by the implementation of perpendicular recording technology.”
An entertaining thought occurs when they mention that after formatting the drive they “lose” 52GB. That’s almost twice as much as your’s truly’s laptop sports.
