Seagate is still the only company that has developed a 3.5″ harddrive with 3TB capacity. So far the drive is not available separately, but at least it has found a new home; Seagate’s NAS solutions of the BlackArmor series that gets upgraded to maximal 12TB capacity.

Seagate thanks to the 3TB harddrive it only needs four slots to reach 12TB with the NAS 440 model, while the NAS 220 model uses only two drives to achieve 6TB of storage.

The two storage solutions comes with Gigabit ethernet, DLNA, hardware data encryption and ships with SafetyDrill+ software for backups and restoration. The NAS units comes with four or two USB 2.0 ports each for additional storage capacity or printers or UPS units.
