When Intel set out to create NetBurst it seems that it had a goal of 10GHz. That’s at least what some slides said and we all know how that went. A while back ThuG and OC Team Italy showed that Intel wasn’t too far off though, if Intel had liquid nitrogen a part of its calculations, by overclocking a NetBurst Pentium 4 to first 8 GHz, and later 8180MHz. Now the second processor to go beyond 8GHz has been sighted. It’s the Russian overclocker DeDaL that has managed to push a Celeron 347 to 8004MHz, which is nothing but impressive. The cooling was of course liquid nitrogen and the motherboard a modified ASUS Commando. He managed to reach the new impressive speed at -183C and 1.922V.
The processor does in fact have a cold bug, but it’s at -183C so it’s still quite workable.
