Seagate has now, just as expected, launched the new Barracuda 7200.10 series and with this taken a steady hold of the harddrive market, especially considering storage capacity. The main attraction with the 7200.10 family is namely the perpendicular recording technology which makes it possible to store considerably more data on the same area compared to conventional storage technology. Seagate is the first manufacturer to introduce this technology with 3.5″ desktop harddrives and this has made it possible to launch a new flagship with a 750GB capacity. Even if this is the drive most people are talking about there are more models in the new series.
The 7200.10 family contains six drives at 200GB, 250GB, 320GB, 400GB, 500GB and 750GB capacity. Through perpendicular recording you can squeeze more data onto a harddrive platter which results in both a more cost efficient and stable solution. Below are the biggest news with Seagate Barracuda 7200.10.
Best-in-class reliability can be assured by a number of features:
• Perpendicular Recording increases data density while decreasing moving parts for a more dependable drive.
• Adaptive Fly Height offers consistent read/write performance from the beginning to end of your computing workloads.
• Clean Sweep automatically calibrates your drive each time you power up.
