Over in Athens, Greece, some of the world’s top overclockers have gathered to do some live overclocking. While Shamino, Kingpin and hipro5 are the ones overclocking they were accompanied by a whole bunch of other overclockers wanting to share the experience. Both yours truly and Kinc were invited, but we were unable to attend. The event was sponsored by Plaisio Computers and organized by the Greek guru Gorillakos. The focus was all on overclocking Intel’s coming Core 2 Extreme QX9650.

And so far they’ve been able to achieve some quite nice results. In 3DMark 06 they’ve moved past 29,000 points with the processor running at 5.6 GHz, of course all four cores enabled. The new record is 29,061 points.

They were also able to reach above 37,000 points in 3DMark 05, but not able to take down the current record. The new second best score is 37,369 points. Along with 3DMark they also did some Aquamark 3 benching and were able to score 325,742 points.

The 3DMark results will be removed from the ORB within 48 hours and reposted after the NDA is lifted, so if the links stop working there’s a valid explanation for it.

Below are some screens though that should help prove their achievements.
