Most users have some sort of USB-based storage. Whether it may be a USB memory stick or a more sturdy USB harddrive. Moving this between computers can be a tedious task. Sharkoon has now launched its LanPort adapters that allows you to make your USB storage accessible through the network like a NAS. After which all computers connected to the network can access the stored data, without having to move it around.
Sharkoon isn’t the first to do this, among others Patriot already have its series of GearBox adapters. But Sharkoon has released two models of the LanPort series with 1 USB input (LanPort 100), or 4 USB inputs (LanPort 400).
Just like a real NAS the adapters ship with their own network interface for configuring the drives. The network connection is through a 100Mbps Ethernet port and prise are 23 and 37 euro.
