Sharp is one the top tier and leading LCD TV manufacturers. It’s also one of the companies that have been pushing the development of the LCD technology forward the most during the last decade or so. It’s latest innovation is a TV that certainly impress. Sharp has namely designed a 52″ LCD TV that is merely 20mm (4/5″) thin and weighs only 25kg (55 lbs.). For comparison, Sharp’s regular 52″ LCD TVs weigh about 30kg and are about 80mm thick. The lightness and thickness isn’t all though. The TV has some very impressive specifications such as 100,000:1 contrast ratio.

Both the physical aspects and the contrast ratio are things we’ve only seen with monitors using the OLED technology, but this time it’s an advancement of the LCD technology.

For once this is a TV that is not just for showing off, but Sharp intends to manufacture and sell this TV … after it has completed its newest fab in Sakai, Japan in march 2010.
