That Shuttle’s SFF-barebones have been an interesting solution for HTPC-builders for a long time is no news.
Shuttle themselves doesn’t claim to have made any specific aims for the HTPC-market though, the regular desktop market has always been the primary target and as a bonus you get an easily configured miniPC that can be converted to a HTPC.

Although with the mighty increasing HTPC-market it seems that Shuttle has decided to make a product specific for the HTPC-market, Shuttle XPC SB83G5C.
The same traditional chassidesign, the cube, but optimized it for HTPC-use in several ways.

Among others an integrated TV-tuner, remote control and the selfdeveloped software XPC Max Home Theater Software.
The frosting of the cake seems to “hidden” VFD-display though, that make it easier to keep track of the system without using a monitor.

The mainbord uses Intel’s 915G-chipset and supports LGA775-processorers, PCIe 16x-graphics cards, Gigabit LAN, FireWire, SATA RAID etc.

Shuttle XPC SB83G5C is mot likely the first of many HTPC-products from Shuttle and hopefully we’ll see other chassi solutions as well, such as real HiFi-format for better integration of the other home cinema equipment.
