Shuttle continues to produce tiny computers for the home users and the latest is the nettop XS35. Beside a very slim design there are two components standing out, Ion 2 and a dual-core Atom D510 CPU.
As expected, Shuttle has put its trust in the Intel Atom architecture and unlike more energy efficiency netbooks there is no reason not to go with the more powerful dual-core version. The integrated graphics circuit of Atom D510 is nothing to cheer about and Shuttle decided to use Nvidia’s second generation Ion platform.
It has a GeForce GT218 GPU to handle the heavier graphical loads and supports playback of 1080p video and 3D games. Video outputs include HDMI and D-Sub, and we can identify a number of USB 2.0 ports and a memory card reader.
Shuttle has used a 2.5″ drive, SSD or harddrive, and when paying $350 you get a fanless design that can handle most of what you would expect from a living room PC. The launch is slated for Q3.
