Skype – a dangerous weapon for hackers

Skype has become a synonym to IP telephony to most people and the service is constantly growing. As IP telephony grows bigger and bigger it gets more and more interesting to hackers. The problem is partly because of the technologies’ high security. Since the traffic is being encrypted it is hard to survey which makes it possible for hackers to hide harmful code if they eventually get into the system. Among others VoIP applications would be excellent to use for dos attacks according to sceintists at Communications Research Network which sent out the warning. To stop hackers from using Skype and other services for menace to share the specifications for its computer systems, or other known standards. Something that would make it possible to survey the traffic to stop hackers.
