NVIDIA has officially opened up the SLI technology for AMD’s new chipsets of the 9 series. We have known for long that the support for multiple NVIDIA graphics cards would come, but it is not until now that the first drivers have been released enabling SLI configurations. With beta driver GeForce 275.50 you can now enjoy SLI on the supported motherboards.
In the end it is up to the motherboard makers if they want to include SLI support with their AMD 900 motherboards, since you need a license from NVIDIA. The chipsets that are enabled for NVIDIA SLI är AMD 990FX, 990X and 970. Basically the new load of Socket AM3+ motherboards that launched earlier this month.
Besides the new GeForce 275.50 drivers enabling SLI for AMD users NVIDIA has managed to improve 3-way and Quad SLI performance in Duke Nukem Forever with 3D Vision.
Other news is 3D Vision game profiles for a couple of new applications and that the 3D Vision driver is baked into the regular graphics driver.
