Smooth Creations is widely known for building both cheap and powerful systems all sporting detailed and exclusive artwork, but what else to expect from living legend Jim “Smooth” Sailing. Smooth Creations has some interesting plans for the future. They cover all areas from the emerging netbook market to the very high-end workstation segment. Except from new and delicate paintjobs the planned systems will sport interesting features to make them stand out further.
The system that will certainly attract attention in these times is the netbook simply called Touch. The name is quite revealing with this one since it will sport a touchscreen, but the exact specifications and measurements are yet to be decided.
Next there are plans for an ultra luxury desktop, Aries. This one goes in the same direction as Touch with an integrated touchscreen and self developed graphical user interface. The design is in the center though, and both veneer wood paneling and granite marble finish has been suggested. We can only wait and see, but it is sure blow more than a few of you away.
Last but in no way least, Smooth Creations is making a break for the workstation market with dual-socket systems. Axe is the suggested entry level system, while Hammer will bring things up a notch. Axe will sport dual Xeon X series CPUs, while Hammer adds another couple of cores with Dunnington-based processors. All in all 12 cores for crunching numbers all day around. Both systems will have three graphics card options – Renegade, Maverick and Phoenix, which are either AMD or NVIDIA-based.
The systems are slated for Q1/Q2 launches. When they appear we will be sure to tell you more about them.
