Socket A is the platform AMD’s K7-arcitecture used and flurished with, from the Duron to the Athlon XP you’ve probably bumped into more than one faithful being, but now it seems the era is about to end. The Inquirer has namel been able to acquire a photo from one of AMD’s plants where they have documented the last shipment of K7-based processors. Alas AMD has stopped manufacturing its K7-processors and with them the Socket A is about to fade away. The platform will probably still be available on the used market for quite some time as it is a true old timer that many, many of you has had a lot of experiences with. Source: The Inquirer
