Socket AM2 dissected

Socket AM2 is expected to be the name of AMD’s new processor platform that will arrive this spring and as most of you know the new platform will use socket with 940 pins, similar to the one the Opteron platform uses called Socket 940, but with different setup. At Anandtech they’ve taken a closer look at the new Socket AM2 platform, or to be more precise the processor and the socket. They simply compare Socket AM2 with the AMD platforms of today. The socket has its 940 pins but uses a different layout than Socket 940. The system for heatsink installation wil be new with the coming platform.
