Sony Ericsson has gone with the flow and designed a phone based on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile. The name of the final product is Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, which is actaully a lot more than just a phone. Sony has maxed out Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform and built a phone for both web communication and multimedia. The most obvious sign for the former being the complete QWERTY keyboard, while the 3″ VGA display is a sign for the latter.

The displays sports a 800x480px resolution and change orientation depending on input, the keyboard or the simple navigation keys below the display. Sony Ericsson has equipped the phone with a 3.2Mpixel digital camera and offers a broad support for music and video playback through Windows Media Player Mobile and RDS radio.

Xperia X1 sports both Bluetooth and WLAN, which should make it possible to keep the user connected at all times. The new phone is designed for the North American market foremost, but should reach several European contries before the end of the year. More on Xperia X1 can be found at Sony Ericsson’s website.
