Sony has now released firmware 1.7 for its latest video game console, which brings improved backwards compatibility with both PlayStation 1 & 2. This is more or less specifically for the European version that lacks the integrated emulation hardware. The update also makes it possible to download and play PlayStation 1 games directly from the harddrive. PlayStation 3 lacked rumble support when it was launched, which resulted in mixed feelings, but with the latest update you can actually get rumble. You can use this by connecting your old PlayStation 2 controller through an USB adapter. Other PlayStation 1 & 2 accessories will also work, for example the Guitar Hero guitar.
