Sony doesn’t seem all that pleased Toshiba got some time in the spotlight as the first manufacturer of a blue laser capable laptop. Toshiba recently launched its Qosmio that among things was equipped with a HD DVD player, bringing great despair Sony’s way. Now it seems that Sony has been a bit too eager to knock Toshiba out of the spotlight by announcing a Blu-ray capable laptop. Sony has namely posted information about the Sony VAIO AR series at its Canadian site, where detailed specifications for Sony VAIO AR190 spoke of a support for the Blu-ray format. Sony has now removed the information, but thanks to Google cache you can still read about the new delight.
Except from its Blu-ray unit Sony has equipped AR190 with a Core Duo processor at 2.0GHz, 1GB DDR2 memory and a GeForce Go 7600GT graphics circuit that feeds the massive LCD display at 17″ with a 1920x1200px resolution. In other terms, Sony has just as Toshiba gone for a multimedia concept and now we just have to await this information to resurface at an official launch.
