Sony has had some great problems with making enough units of its PlayStation 3 video game console and now new information suggests that the launch in the USA will only be covered by 150,000 to 200,000 consoles. This is twice as many as there were during the launch in Japan, but it’s still pretty clear that Sony will not be able to sell that many consoles before the end of the year, even though consumers are willing to pay. At the same time it’s understandable that Sony has chosen to delay the launch in Europe. It’s counting on shipping about 750,000 consoles before new year’s eve and that having to ship to Europe as well would’ve have med the situation completely untenable.
